A Hidden Paradise
Not far from the historic centre of Padula, the treasure of the Vallo di Diano, famous for its Charterhouse and other historic monuments, there is a large area of high naturalistic and landscape value, the so-called Mandranello Oasis.
An environmental and tourism reevaluation
The area, Military Property until 1995, was then passed on to the Municipality of Padula in 2014, and was thus destined for an environmental and tourist revaluation project. The estate, which can be crossed by following a 6 km path, at roughly 1,100 metres above sea level, also has a large draining basin, or rather a drainage basin without out-flowing streams. In winter, the waters of this basin solidify, thus creating a fascinating frozen lake surrounded by vast beech woods.
A natural paradise that can be visited without considerable difficulty on two routes: the high itinerary, known as the "sentile", starts at 1,097 m above sea level reaching a maximum altitude of 1,298 m; the basic route, on the other hand, is roughly 6 km long and develops along the plain flanking the hilly ridge, without difficulty.
